This is a question I honestly never asked myself so far, until I recently found out all the companies Jeff Bezos owns and all the industries in which his biggest company, Amazon, has spread its tentacles!
Well, who is Jeff Bezos? Everybody knows him as the owner of the Amazon giant, the AMaZiNg man, and the richest in the world, who founded the Amazon business in July 5, 1994. He started from selling books and then extended the company into an enormous place into which you can find everything you can think of, from A to Z, just like the name describes it. So, everybody knows this, but how many of you know that he bought The Washington Post newspaper (probably from political interests or to take care of his public image, like some would say) or that Amazon has diversified its acquisition portfolio into several market sectors, with its largest acquisition being the purchase of the grocery store chain WHOLE FOODS for $13.7 billion in June 2017?
And things don’t stop here… Besides these acquisitions made from various reasons, like expanding its company’s portfolio or so that he can be covered despite possible scandals that may occur (like the one with the divorce from his wife), it seems like Jeff Bezos wants to be a part of every sector of our lives, from food, to retail, to data protection, robotics, and film. Yes, film because Amazon Studios opened its gates and it is ready to take over the film industry!
And for the company to enter even deeper into our lives, to be as close to us as possible, starting in 2011 Amazon began shifting its focus to buying technology startups to develop and improve Amazon Echo (you all know probably the voice of Alexa) and grow its Amazon Web Services (AWS) division. With its surveillance systems (both for the interior and exterior) in full development, using its collaboration with the American Police, Amazon is closer to us with every step it takes.
Here are the 5 most important Amazon’s acquisitions:

- Date it was purchased: August 28, 2017
- Type of Business: Footwear and apparel retailer

#3 Kiva Systems (now rebranded as Amazon Robotics):

#5 Twitch Interactive:

All these facts lead me to the beginning question, will it be possible for Amazon (Jeff Bezos, to be more precise) to own the majority of domains around the world in the next 10 years?
I asked myself this question because the speed with which the giant Amazon moves is amazing, in 25 years of life it is already the market leader in so many niches, and all the power and influence it has is impressive. It just seems that in any field it would enter, it manages to conquer and own it in the shortest time. Although Jeff Bezos doesn’t agree with the term “to conquer” I used it a lot because it is exactly what he does, he is changing the industries fast, being part of our lives no matter what we do and probably every service we will use in the future will turn to bear the Amazon brand!
With that smile on his face, with exceptional intelligence and an iron will, Jeff Bezos seems to be the robot-man (as I would call him) who is able to become one of the biggest leaders of this world, we will see if it will be in a positive or negative way!
